What's in a list? How to use Twitter Lists to your Advantage

If you're dabbling in Twitter, you may be interested or curious about the Lists function. You might have noticed someone, out there in the Twittersphere has Listed your for something. What relevance does this have for you?

A List is another way of "grouping" Twitterers together. You can List (or Group) Industries, Companies, Personality Types, Names - anything that is imaginable.

What a List does in essence, is to make finding a group of Twitterers more easy for the next person. You can list everyone that works with you, and then that list becomes searchable and followable.

It's a fantastic way to recommend certain Twitterers to the world, and also gives you the ability to follow everyone on a list, without actually Following them.

An awesome feature of Lists is PRIVATE lists. Here, you can create a list of anyone, including your competitors, and they are none the wiser. No one sees the list but the creator - absolute magic!

How the "Facebookification" of Twitter is good for business

If you've logged into your Twitter account lately, you might have seen a pretty awesome new feature that Twitter has released.

On the right panel, there is now a 'Who to follow' panel, where Twitter suggests people for you to follow.

The best part about this is that it generates this list by tapping into who you actually follow already, and finds who they follow and related followers.

This is good because it takes some of the pain away from finding relevant followers - it's like controlled networking.

Here, you can follow people that are already in the same interest/industry area as you, and could very easily convert into paying customers, sales leads, business partners or whatever!

Just like Facebook, where it suggests people for you to befriend, or LinkedIn, where it suggests people for you to connect to, this feature on Twitter is definitely a step in the right direction for the microblogging platform.

Twitter is fast becoming the most important marketing tool online. Everything you say can be heard by the world, or niched to be found by your target audience.

For those of you who are not on Twitter, you could be missing out on vast opportunities for your business, regardless of size or scope.

Build your Brand on YouTube

Wanting to build your brand on YouTube is an excellent venture that’s truly worth considering. After all, it is the biggest, largest and most popular video sharing site available today. With a single click of a mouse, viewers from all over the world, get to see for themselves the value of your product and service. YouTube is the platform that makes them feel like they have met you in person, and that is good only if you’ve given them the right perspective of yourself.

Build your Brand on YouTube by creating a Channel

You have to invest time and energy when creating a channel in YouTube. While registration is a breeze, you have to learn how to build your brand on YouTube by employing certain strategies. For example, choose a channel name that best represents your brand. If you are marketing yourself, you may want to consider putting your whole name as your channel title. Also, set up your profile in a way that it is easier for millions of people to find you. If possible, link your YouTube channel in your website, and vice versa. Explore other methods to customise your channel. You can select the viewing settings that you like, and you can even place tags that you think are relevant to your business.

Nothing beats uploading videos that are not only fun to watch, but are of substance and quality. Your channel layout may be great, but if your videos are crappy, your viewers will not stay to even finish watching one. If you really want to build your brand on YouTube, then you should consider investing in decent video equipment, or hiring credible people to help you. It doesn’t have to be Hollywood, but give them something decent.
