The Attack On Google: Phase II

Facebook and Bing's partnership made little difference in the search market, but they hope this next blow will reel in the traffic.

Google is preparing itself for what may well be a significant threat to the search giant - Social Search.

Facebook and Bing have revealed the "Social Search" concept which plans to revamp Bing to be "more like Facebook". The "Facebook Instant Personalisation" borrows from a Facebooker's friends, interests and history to provide targeted, relevant information on a Facebook page... and it's precisely what Bing plans to do to search.

Starting from today, Bing.com will contain information it thinks you might want to see. Everything from cars you've liked, restaurants your friends like, movie reviews for movies you might want to see - and it all originates from the 'Like" button.

Facebook may not be completely open like Twitter is, but the 'Like' statistics have been made public, and it is with this information that Bing hopes to grow in popularity from it's current status of only 4% of all global searches.
