Firsty, anyone that comes to you and tells them they're an "expert" in Social Media, is out of their minds.
You can be an expert accountant, electrician, hairdresser - but Social Media is an ever-evolving space.
There is no limits and no clear guidelines to Social Media - so there is no such thing as a Social Media Expert.
To be good in Social Media, you just have to be yourself. You have to open your eyes and arms to the masses, listen to their concerns, join their conversations, and at the end of it all, it just might pay off.
Results do not happen overnight, but when you're constantly in the Social space with your brand, you can easily trigger critical mass and enjoy the benefits of a virally successful Social Campaign - and that's it.
No "expert" should sit there and tell you in convoluted language what you should do.
Social Media Marketers (the good ones) will listen to you, your company, and your customers, and develop a strategy that will unite them all like a happy family. Social Media Marketers will in fact guide and strategise and re-strategise until your brand presence has completely dominated your competitors and industry.
That's how to tell the good from the bad.
