Twitter's experimental advertisement model, Promoted Tweets, is in test mode and already has 30 "big names" taking part.
The Wall Street Journal has revealed advertisers are spending "upwards of $100,000" on the ads which has only been open to selected test partners.
Do they work? Twitter announced that 5% of all Twitterers who see a promoted Tweet interact with it, either by clicking, retweeting or replying. They also revealed that 80% of Promoted Tweet clients come back for another round.
Companies that have advertised their success with Promoted Tweets include Coca-Cola, Virgin America and online trading firm Zecco.
