Social Media Killing Phone Calls

There aren't too many traditional communication tools that have not been affected by Social Networking, but one, seemingly unkillable activity, is on a steep decline.

The real-time effectiveness of Social Networking allows for easy and free communication between one or many parties, instantly.

For many, these exchanges have replaced their need for emphasis on emails and SMS, and replaced them with current, relevant and instant bursts of communication.

So how is the humble telephone call faring?

Before the advent of SMS and mobile emails, phone calls were a part of life. As our mobile devices became easier and more efficient the phone call entered its darkest hour - and it only gets worse.

Facebook and Twitter have removed the need for voice communication whatsoever, instead allowing to efficiently collaborate with many at will.

Tools like Skype and Google Talk added fuel to the fire, providing us with free voice and video chat, should we still wish to work our vocal chords out.

So what we are seeing, is the toys of the desperate and nerdy, become important tools for the evolution of humanity through digital means.

It will never slow down.
