Google's experimental Ultra High-Speed Internet Competition announces winner.
Over 1,000 cummunities in the US competed over the last year for the prize of having the Search giant install experimental infrastructure that would yeild service of 1GB per second.
The goal of the Google project was not to become an offline competitor, but rather to push the development of faster internet in the industry, forward.
Google plans to work with Kansas City local businesses to roll out its plans, giving 145,000 residents shove into the future of internet speeds.
